Artist’s Statement “For me, a landscape does not exist in its own right, since its appearance changes at any moment” -- Claude MonetMy paintings are my spirit voice, inspired by my memories and travels, revealing the inner landscapes that exist deep inside each of us. Rather than paint what I see, I am continually drawn into the fluidity of expression inspired by nature and the emotional impact of color, form and light. Mood and feeling are more important to me than literal reference to natural landscapes. My landscape inspired paintings are an abstract vision of how my surroundings affect me. I work spontaneously, concentrating on layers of color and texture, often scraping away and repainting various areas, always pushing the limits until a composition is found in my process. My hope is to extend beyond the personal dialogue, to provide viewers with the opportunity for reflection and a journey of their own. |
