Bio
Alfie Fernandes is a native of the San Francisco bay area and the son of an illustrator.
Fernandes studied art and painting at The Academy of Art in San Francisco. In 1981 he
applied his art training to the field of advertising, becoming a creative director. For the
past 20+ years he has created award-winning advertising for some of America’s best-known
companies, like Bank of America, Gallo wine, and Dreyers Ice Cream. For eight of those
years he owned his own advertising and design firm.
The conceptual discipline learned in advertising are reflected in his art.
For the past 7 years, Alfie has devoted increasing amounts of time to his art.
He now pursues his passion for painting full time.
His wife Eileen of twenty years and friends sometimes name his paintings. He is always
curious as to what people see in his works. That is why he loves the art of abstract,
because it provokes thought and imagination.
